Initiatives Developed to Advance the Goal:
An external review of grant operations against national standards was conducted during the 2017-2018 academic year. In response to the review, a number of steps have been taken to build capacity within the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (SRP) to support faculty and staff in funding their creative, scholarly, service, and research efforts. A new director was recruited and hired during the 2018-2019 academic year. New collaborations have been developed between SRP and University Advancement to improve institutional capacity for seeking funding from foundations. Other operational improvements will be launched during the 2019-2020 academic year, including streamlined procedures for managing grant submissions and a more robust program of outreach to academic departments.
