Connections

Program Overview

Connections is a one-on-one mentoring program that works with middle school students (grades 7-8) from local Spokane Public Schools. Connections focuses on improving the academic and social success of youth by pairing Gonzaga students in relationships with youth. The program helps youth create a vision for the future and a plan for how that vision can become a reality. Mentors and mentees participate in a variety of academic, recreational, and social activities. All Connections mentors attend weekly programming (either Wednesday OR Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm), visit their mentee once a week at school, and participate in quarterly Saturday activities.

Connections is a year-long commitment for GU students. We strongly encourage mentors to consider committing to the program for longer than one year, but this is not a requirement.
