Policy Summary
Policy for holds, recalls, and rush requests. These services are only available to GU students, faculty, and staff.
Holds and Recalls
Material that is checked out may be recalled after two weeks. Borrowers may place a hold on an item that is checked out to someone else. The person who has the item is notified of their obligation to return the item in the reduced loan period. Fines will apply to items that are not returned from the date of recall.
After the item is returned it will be held at the Circulation Desk. Items not picked up within seven days are returned to the shelf.
Placing Holds
From the library’s homepage search for your book using the box labeled “Search books, articles, & More.” Click on the title of your book, select “sign in,” and finally select “get item.”
Alternately, library staff at the Check Out Desk can also help you place a hold.
Rush Requests
Borrowers may submit a Rush Request Form for new materials that have been received by the library but not yet processed and ready for the shelf. A rush request expedites the processing and items are usually available within three business days of the request. Rush Request Forms are available at the Circulation Desk.
