Directors from the consortium of academic centers for the study of hate will address questions including: Why has hate always been a problem for humans? How do we understand it better? What is the value of shining light on the problem, with hate crime data and multidisciplinary research? How do we mine events in the news today to help students understand the human capacity to hate, and what might be effective to counter it? How do we organize our colleges and universities so that they produce better thinking and research about hate and its impact? How do lessons from the past shape our understanding of how hate plays out today? Come prepared for an impactful and engaging evening that will leave you asking “What would I have done?” and “What can I do?” Organized by the Gonzaga Institute for Hate Studies with the Foley Library and in collaboration with the Spokane County Human Rights Task Force.
